Panch Phoran (Organic) — Bengali Five-Spice Brilliance in Every Pop
A cornerstone of Bengali cuisine, Panch Phoran (literally “five spices” in Maithili) is a whole seed blend that adds bold, fragrant flavor to vegetables, dals, fish, and curries. Unlike most spice mixes, Panch Phoran is used whole and unground—typically fried in oil until it pops, unleashing its aromatic punch and infusing dishes with deep, earthy warmth and texture.

Ours is crafted in the traditional Indian-Bangladeshi style using a balanced mix of organically grown seeds for authentic regional flavor.

🌿 Blend Components

  • Fenugreek Seeds – for mellow bitterness and warmth
  • Nigella Seeds (Kalonji) – mildly peppery and oniony
  • Cumin Seeds – earthy, smoky depth
  • Fennel Seeds – sweet and anise-like
  • Mustard Seeds – sharp, pungent bite and pop

Together, they create a symmetrical flavor arc that’s toasty, bold, and deeply satisfying.

🍽️ How to Use

  • Heat in oil until the seeds begin to sizzle and pop—then add vegetables, tofu, lentils, or meat
  • Add a spoonful to rice dishes, potatoes, or brothy dals for instant warmth and complexity
  • Stir into pickling brines or drizzle over cooked dishes as a finishing tadka
  • Try it on roasted vegetables, sautéed greens, or even fridge-pickled beans

Classic technique: Temper Panch Phoran in ghee or oil to start your dish off with layered depth.
